Default cam chain auto tensioner question

Is there another bolt on the s2k that you can use to remove the cam chain autotensioner? I would like to not have to drive to the hardware store to pick up a 5x.8 40mm long bolt just to compress this thing. Any help will be appreciated

If you do rewind it and it winds easy can it If it winds hard and it takes everything you have to put a holding pin back in then, it's good

I haven't even messed with it. I am just performing step 24 on page 6-29 for the head removal. Can I just take the whole unit off and not worry about compressing it? How much is the auto tensioner at the dealership?

the TCT is about 100-120 at the dealership

No there are no bolts that i know of in the car that will retract it. I had to go buy one. If your putting in a new one from honda you dont need to compress as it will come compressed when purchased, and to remove the old one you really dont have to compress it. I compressed mine and i didnt have to worry about dropping the pieces in the front of the motor, so i guess its just for peace of mind.

I used part of the wire portion of a bulldog paper clamp, just cut the correct length then bend one end up so you dont drop it.

Edit:

I found a picture, not sure if bulldog is actually the right name. lol

Use a paper clip for the pin, as far as the bolt, i had one laying around to use.

The tensioner is a bitch to compress back in, it took two of us and a lot of arm strength

yes go and get the bolt. If the spring lets loose and the tensioner comes apart then it is really hard to put back together.

Believe me i just did it like 2 weeks ago and it took me like an hour to put it back together and get it in.

Buy the bolt and follow the manual exactly, thats what I did and my engine fired right up with 0 problems./

i wouldn't use a paper clip the metal is to weak and it flexes making removal very difficult, the slips i used are thicker and already have a little bend in them making them safer to use.
