cam chain auto-tensioner
Just replaced the cam chain auto-tensioner on my 02 with 19k. Now it is very quite upon start up. The threads were very helpful on how to replace it. Here are a few things that I could not find in the threads so here you go. Torque the two auto-tensioner bolts to 8.75 ft lbs I used 9 ft lbs. As for the maintenance bolt (plug) that you must remove to get to the holding pin, it takes a 8mm allen wrench. I cut off a small piece of 8mm allen wrench about an inch long to make a bit. I fits perfect in to a 5/16 socket so you can torque the maintenance bolt to 22 ft lbs. If you ever remove the chain auto-tensioner from the car I would recommend that you toss it and get a new one, not worth the trouble. I am thinking of replacing it every 10K but who knows. Cheap and easy insurance. $125 delivered.
Thanks for all your help
