Sorry for the big pics, but here's what I was talking about earlier. Actually, it looks like my cam gears were aligned, but the white mark on the crank pulley mark wasn't exactly aligned with the marker on the block.

The cam gears:

And the crank pulley (without moving anything):

Looking again, I think billman is right... your intake gear probably is off one tooth... but it's just hard to tell with the fuzzy pic that is zoomed in to far (no good point of reference).

Put 'em on your web host (or photobucket or something)... then put a link to them in your post inside [ img ] [ /img ] tags.

Thanks, MXT,

Here they are.

It was a bone stock F20C except for an after market Electromotive ECU and 55 LB/HR injectors. We only boosted enough to make 355 RWHP, probably about 8 or 9 pounds. But the computer says we only need about 325 RWHP to go 300 MPH so I'm looking at that for next season. Except I'd really like to go 300 MPH NA and on gas.

Anyway, enjoy...

And keep the shiny side up,

Jim

Where exactly did you have the crank pulley aligned? When I lined mine up with the mark (I can't remember if it was the red or the white or something else), I remember noticing that my cam pulley markings weren't perfectly aligned.

However, I've had my head milled a bit, so I suspect that could've also been contributing. I have a pic at home somewhere, but I'll probably forget to come back and update this thread when I get home.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it much unless they are off significantly. From your pic, they look reasonably close.

When I put my engine back together, It didnt line up perfect either.

Man what a perfect pic.

Note how the timing marks line up exactly with the gap between the upper and lower cam caps.

It was after noticing this coincidence I could align the cams fast with no question.
