Caliper/Brake Help!
Alright here is my Delima... Out changeing my springs no big deal. Was able to get the struts all out fine. I wanted to paint the calipers so we removed the calipers off the rotor in the back.. After being tedious we decided to leaave the front's on. Well, After the paint all dried and we were about to install the new springs we notice the back driverside brake caliper's piston had sucked itself in Yeah In.. Not compressing the brake pads together, but opening them up even more to where we could not get the pads to stay in. We were boggled! We tried a few things and decided t leave it for awhile. We finished the other three and then came back to this one. It was now compressed fully and the pads were pressed together! So now we had to take C claps and try to put the piston back in.... THE PISTON WILL NOT GO IN FOR US TO GIVE IT ENOUGH ROOM FOR THE ROTOR!!!!!!!!!!! We tried bleeding the line (well opened a little valve thingy) We tried EVERYTHING... for two hours we tried forcing this brake back in!
WHAT ARE WE DOING WRONG??? HOW DO WE GET THE PISTON TO GO IN AND LET US PUT IT BACK TOGETHER!!!!!! HELP!
-Oh and a side note, my CF hood came today but was damaged had to refuse it.

Let me get this straight, You can't put the rear caliper back on because the piston is extended and holding the brake pads out to far. Correct?
Then you tried to compress the piston with a C- clamp, which didn't work.
Hopefully you didn't screw up the caliper by using the C-clamp. The rear pistons must be "threaded" back into the caliper to retract them. They have a slot in the face of the piston for a tool to slide into that turns the piston.

Yes, you can go to any parts store and buy a "Universal Brake caliper piston tool" It looks like a cube with a 3/8 drive hole in it, and has several drive tangs to fit different caliper pistons. This is pretty much the standard on any car with 4 wheel disc brakes, that use an integral parking brake.
Or you can turn the piston back in with a big flat headed screwdriver. Just don't mess up the dust boot.

Just use a standard 6" 3/8" extension on your ratchet. Put the end of the extension into the center of the "X" on the rear caliper piston and screw the piston back in.
It does not compress with a C clamp; I hope you didn't damage it by trying.
