CAI high pitch squeal noise question
I installed a AEM V@ CAI in my S2000 about 3 weeks ago and noticed a high pitch sqeeeek right at 3000 rpm no matter what gear I was in while accelerating. I posted on here about it and everyone that has a CAI said it's normal and that It has something to do with the old air filter system being uninstalled. Does anyone know exactly what's causing the squeak? and if theres any way to get rid of it? I didn't mind it at first but now it's really getting on my nerves specially when I have my top down.
Thanks

I have learned to live with my AEM's whistle. It has more to do with the rate of air flow through the pipe than it does RPMs. If you go WOT from 1500 RPMs to 4000 RPMs, it won't whistle, but if you just putter through a parking lot at partial throttle, it will start whistling.
I think the whistle is caused by one or both of the hose fittings that tap in for the air pump and valve cover vent. I have often considered altering or eliminating them to see if the whistle goes away.

Definately let me know if you ever get rid of it, people look at the car and go "WOW!" then they hear the squeak and think something's wrong with the car. What does WOT mean?

i motion to have a sticky at the top of this forum that says, "yes, that whistle is normal for a CAI install"..
i kinda like the whistle at least i know the intake is doing what its supposed to be doing by suckin in air
if people think somethings wrong... so let em i've had people think i had a hole in my exhaust because it was loud..

Dont get me wrong, I love the low pitch whistle the car makes sucking in air with the CAI what I dont like is that high pitch squeak at 3000 rpm about when accelerating. 3000 rpm is usually where I keep my rpm when driving through my small town of Alameda and I cross the 3000rpm range frequently, it really gets frustating when you hear it 30 times a day. Enough of my complaning... sorry you had to read all that.. if anyone has any info on what causes it exaclty or how to get rid of it if it's even possible please let me know.

I have the AEM V1, I hear intake noise, but not a "squeek", especially not a high pitched.
I'd try to find someone local and do a side by side comparison. Certainly check all you hoses. I'd also actuate the throttle (while the engine is running) from under the hood to see if you can better locate the source of the sound. Perhaps it is something else?
