If you plan to use the bypass valve, you defeat all of the benefits of using a CAI and you put yourself at risk of hydrolock... you lose on all accounts.
A bypass valve is not available for the V2 (only for the V1). When you install AEM style CAI's, you need to take some precautions to protect the inlet from water, especially from the drain hole under the hood above the filter.
I measured lower average IAT's with my V2 over my old genuine Spoon Snorkel/JR Filter combo using a scantool.

The only reason some JDM companies designed them that way was because AEM-style ones were not permitted in the spec racing series over there.

Thank you.
Your insight is greatly appreciated.
It looks like I will have to do some more research on the sound I'm looking for also.
I am leaning towards the Comptech over the Spoon .....for price reasons alone.
If anyone has a Spoon snorkel they'ed like to sell...let me know.

if you live ANYWHERE near roads that flood...STAY AWAY FROM THE AEM.
The AEM is probably the best overall, with the most gains (average around 5 vs Comptech around 3) BUT you do have a real risk of hydrolock. Ask yourself if 5hp (at best) is worth blowing your engine.

What's so hard about not driving though big ass puddles?
Also, people have hydrocked their engine their cars being outside and puddles collecting underneath the car. The filter sits VERY low.

I wonder why... safety issues? Hydrolock concerns?

My God, man, have you no sense of decency?
This is a matter of cruelty to small animals. Shame.

I own the Comptech ... Frankly, I was a little disappointed by the quality and the fit ... and I took my time to install it.
It sounds great ... until the 3 screws securing the loose and vibrating lid shake themselves loose ... then it sounds like crap. The lid will also flap ... the CF is thin and not very rigid. The seal deteriorates quickly and you have to come up with some creative replacements from time to time.
I give it 5.5 out of 10 stars with the biggest benefit being you won't suck up puddles and the low point being quality.
