The is a reall bad problem with hondas in general. (Why I got hondacare...) Several secret recalls. Go to the dealer and explain what happened, and maybe bug the regional warranty folks. It is a expensive PITA, but you can do it. Just need a friendly shop with a freon recycler.
No such thing as a SECRET RECALL

I'll type slowly for labatts drinkers: : )
The secret recall is when you go to the dealer, they pull the part, its past warranty, and they don't say a word and fix the part for free. My CRV had one and my neighbor did too. My dealer is NEVER generous with post warranty repairs except for a couple specific items. My buddy who is in sales there calls it the secret recall-fixed if you complain.

Just for future prevention of this. I suggest you regularly run the A/C compressor after you fix this issue. R-134a tends to be harsher on gaskets and seals, so running it every once in a while will help to lubricate the system.
The manual says to run the AC a few minutes a week even in the Winter to lube things up. People who delinked the defrost from the AC should take special note of this.

On the other hand, some of us don't use the car in winter. I typically go about 4 months every year without starting the engine. I'm not likely to take the hit for a dry start of the engine to lube the seals in the AC compressor. But that's just one man's opinion.
