I'm an A/C tech. If you rev the engine and the suction goes to 0, you have a blockage. You should have also looked at the high side. It probable shot past 250psi. These cars are known for the dryer and the expansion valve going bad. I replaced both. Dryer worked for awhile but started blowing warm months down the road. Evacuate the system. Replace dryer. evacuate again for 30 minuutes. Let sit to check for leaks. Then charge to spec. If you do not have tools, take to shop.

 

While I rev the engine, the low did go down. The higher the rpm the lower it got but once off throttle it went up agin. The high side stayed about 125 all the time.

Does your blend door mechanism physically move when you move the dial to cold?

 

Yes.....

 

If your high pressure is not going up, you may be low on freon or compressor bad. Evacuate and properly charge. Then check pressures.

 

Update: Today I had a Evac and recharge to spec. System had no leaks on vacuum but its still doing the same. Warm air out of vents.
No noises from compressor or clutch unit.

 

Expansion valve could be bad. It meters the freon going through the evaporator. If clogged or stuck open, you will have warm air. Mine went bad, and replaced it. I posted diy directions on this site for replacement. But also if you have no way to evacuate the system, best lest to a professional.

 

Update: So today I completed my ac work for the issue explained. I was very lucky to have been offered a used Keihin compressor from a local s2000 owner. I changed out the expansion valve which had so much crude in it, changed out the dryer, all o rings and flushed out the system. Added 4 1/3 oz of Pag 46 and vacuumed and recharged the system. The A/C is now blowing ice cold air with both the low and high side within specs.....Looks like it was the compressor causing the issues.

 

 

Yep that grey paste on the expansion valve is compressor guts.
