Buying an used S2000, what should i look out for
Are there any signs of misuse, other than charicturistic noises. For instance what are some visual signs that an engine is in good condition, diferintial is in good condition ect ect
Since obviously i couldnt controll if the car was broken in properly i was thikning that when i bought the car i would change the oil to a good non synthetic oil with mugen oil additive, change tranny and diff. Any other opinions
Also for first mods i will get an exhaust and intake leaning on getting a snorkel, and either mugen or spugen what are your opinions

Listen, listen, listen. Members who have had diff issues have 'heard' the problem worsen for the most part. Also very important - walk around the car and feel the edges of the body panels, hood, etc. They should be smooth. If they are rough, the car was probably painted.
I dont know anything about oil additives, since Im not an additive kind of guy. I also dont know how many miles this car has that you plan on buying, but if you plan on switching to synthetic, I recommend you wait until your second change, or 7500 miles or so.
Changing the diff fluid is highly recommended. Everyone notices a smoother ride, even when the fluid is changed at 3k miles.
Try a search about intakes, as they have been slaughtered with opinions. Talk to our sponsor Team Spugen for good deals on dual or single outlet exhausts, that consistently show 5hp improvement over stock. A good # since most systems dont give much if any gain.
good luck with the purchase!

Ask to take the car to a local Honda dealer and pay them a $50 spot and have them go through the car and see if it needs anything or if they give it a good bill of health. Its worth it. Due a car fax report, and have the dealer run the VIN# to check for any work that was done to the car. Might be a good idea to contact someone for your local area in an S2000 club to go with you to look at the car. If you need help finding someone to go with you let me know.

If I were looking at buying a used S2000, I would ask that the seller allow me to have the diff oil drained, examined, then replaced. If the car has 20K + miles on it, and the oil looks bad, then I would feel nervous about it. The 1st batch of diff oil always looks bad, even if it is changed early. The 2nd batch stays looking good for a long time, so it should be obvious if the diff still has the original oil.
It would also be a good idea to "surprise" the seller with this request, so that he doesn't go have it changed right quick before you come pick it up.
