Default Busted yet another diff....

Hey everybody, got another busted diff. This will be my third one. Two stock, one pretty expensive Spoon sports two way clutch.
However this one was installed incorrectly (so I'm told) What I want to know is how
much of it was my fault. I never had a good (performance) diff before really. I did drive it rough at some points to be honest. So for the back story. Bought diff, being new to the area I didn't trust any garages. Took the diff to a Honda dealership. Bad idea. It clicked and "ratcheted" when turning. I know you got to break the diff in by driving in figure 8s. But two years later it still clicks and "ratchets" did I not break it in enough? I had one performance shop tell me it was installed incorrectly. Just looking to see if anyone had similar problems. The diff is whining badly now so its safe to say its killed. I want to know if anyone knows is that ratchet normal for a new diff? or if anyone had similar problems. Thanks for any insight.

ask PoddyMod then buy a diff from him! I have a stage 2 diff from him, does not make a sound and good for 500+HP.

This. I have a stage 2 diff as well. Contact puddymod and be done with it.

I agree with the advice of the above posters, but what in the world are you doing to destroy three differentials? Launching multiple times a day? I know OEM S2000 differentials aren't THAT strong, but sounds like you need to do something differently.

Agree!

For your third diff, either get a puddymod one or get a different car--one more designed to be launched--like a mustang....

I will look into it for sure. I have heard awesome things about them. As for launching it hard, never. I do like amateur arrive and drive kinda stuff. Trying to get a bit of experience before I do time attack. But I do drive I hard there trying to peg down my buddy's 350. As for so many diffs. First owner dogged the hell out of it and the diff was already shot. Second was a stock that I pushed to hard on the track. And the third was allegedly installed wrong.

perhaps not using correct weight diff oil, especially with uprated LSD.

Put 130k on a stock diff that saw a boat load of auto x and track days. Never had a failure. If you're blowing diffs you're doing something wrong.

If you're breaking diffs either they are improperly installed or you're hard launching the car.

Moved to under the hood.

How often are you changing fluid in these diffs you killed?
