Burning Oil and Smoking Blue
My s2000 is smoking light blue and oil consumption is crazy high.
Specs on the car
Before, I had a catchcan between the PCV Valve and Intake Manifold and would average 100 or so miles every quart to top off.
Driving Style
Oil Brand
When does it smoke ( these are all sometimes, for example not at every traffic light does it puff smoke, nor all the time when idling)

Specs on the car
- 2001
- 223000 miles on everything except engine.
- Original engine blew and was swapped by previous owner for another used one with unknown mileage. I got the car on it’s second engine.
- K&N CAI
- Tanabe Super Medallion Mufflers
- Generic Catalytic Converter
- Engine Rebuild at 201000 miles due to crankwalk and thrust bearing failure (Same internals were used)
- 1 quart every 200 miles to top off
Before, I had a catchcan between the PCV Valve and Intake Manifold and would average 100 or so miles every quart to top off.
Driving Style
- Super easy, shift at 3-4k, no VTEC, no WOT, definitely not what an s2000 is for. The harder I push the engine the more oil it burns.
Oil Brand
- Nothing Specific, anything that 5-30 and API Certified SN Grade. No synthetic
When does it smoke ( these are all sometimes, for example not at every traffic light does it puff smoke, nor all the time when idling)
- At startup it puffs
- Traffic Lights
- Stop signs
- Accelerating (in neutral or in gear)
- When off the gas pedal and getting back on it in the same gear
- Idling
Important notes
- When idling parked on a downhill it starts to smoke solidly and constantly
- OEM Intake and Exhaust Valve Stem Seals were changed around 2000 miles ago hoping to fix the problem
- Rislone Stop Smoke and Ring Repair additive seems to work for a while, then it starts smoking again

Agree. Worn out motor. The one other thing it could be is gummed up rings. Its a long shot, but easy enough to try.
One thing is clear, the oil is leaking past your rings, where it is getting burned up and turned into exhaust smoke.
The reason for that is what your hoping is simply gummed up rings, and not worn rings and the cylinder bores they work against.
You can try a can of a snake oil type product intended to cure this issue. Maybe it will work. Probably it won't. Use a well know brand. Like a Lucas Oil product or maybe something from Sea Foam. Normally I'd caution against this, for fear it might damage the bearings. But your motor is probably shot anyway, so not a lot to lose from trying.
Just don't leave it in there too long and definitely don't vtec while that stuff is in your oil.

Yeah, I agree. The motor seems to be on its last legs, but, it still drives reliable enough for daily driving. I’ll just baby it and try to make it last. Where can I find a product like this? Never heard of them. Can you link me?

You only have 20,000 miles on the engine, after rebuild? How was it broken-in? Man, that is a real drag.

I agree that it is probably his rings, but are you guys so certain that his engine is toast?
OP, I have no S2000 engine experience, but I'd look into new rings with a possible overbore. Find a reputable and S2000 experience mechanic.
To me the question would be whether cost of a rebuild is more than cost of a replacement.
