Burning oil smell

The oil filter on these cars MUST be tightened with a tool, sometimes they are not and they fall off, which typically results in a toasted engine.

its only the oem filter, aftermarket ones are fine when tightened by hand.

also op you might have a bigger problem if you're burning 1quart of oil per 1k miles; that's pretty significant.

Many AP1s burn 1qt per 1k and run great for years, myself included. Oil type/driving style being the main factors. I would be more worried about and oil filter falling off
