Burning oil smell
I can smell burning oil when I come to stops. I can't smell it coming from the engine compartment or exhaust and there isn't any blue smoke either. I smell it while sitting in my car or when getting out after a drive. No leaks from engine bay that I can tell.
Where else could I be smelling burning oil from?

There are no leaks on the ground either. My AP1 has been using about 1 quart of oil every 1k miles. Not sure if that's normal or if this has something to do with it. I also see black soot on my bumper.

Did you have an oil change recently?? It's possible that the last oil change had a little spill out. i go through about a quart in 2 months. So don't worry too much about the oil loss, if you're not seeing it on the ground. just let it burn out for a few days. If you still smell it I'd be worried.

Thing is, the guy I got it from had a strawberry air freshener and the smell of that finally wore off. So I don't know if the smell has been there for the past two months or two weeks.

Are you certain its burning oil, and not, say, raw exhaust? Soot on rear bumper sounds PO replaced CAT with a test pipe, which would mean your car is going to smell old school and 'unfiltered'.
Of course, that smell will be from the back of the car, not under the hood. But smells are difficult to trace direction.

Sounds like you found your issue, but keep this in mind on your next oil change.
