Burning Oil
Last night i was driving and i gave it some gas and passed a car, i looked in my rearview mirror and i saw a cloud of smoke out of the exhaust. I couldnt tell what color it was because it was nighttime. I was worried it was oil, so this morning before work i checked my oil and i was at the first "x" above the L, so i was about a quart low.
i looked around the filter, drain plug, and the pan, no leaks. oil pressure light has never come on so no major leaks anywhere. if im burning oil, where are the possibilites? can a bad valve adjustment cause oil burning? im afraid that i could be burning oil through the cylinders through the piston rings or maybe the cylinders could be scored? im trying to think of all of the possibilties. any suggestions?

but this is a quart in 1 month, s2000's do not burn oil like that, the manual does not say to put in a quart every month. lets use some logic. if it was 1 quart every oil change i could understand, but its not.

depends how you drive man, if you were gassing it hard enough to see a cloud of smoke behind you at night I'd say you are driving pretty wild.. you could burn a quart in a month like that. just saying.. let others chime in though.

If you're running standard Mobil 1 - you should consider changing to another brand or to Mobil 1 EP.

i understand, but i dont drive like a maniac, or else i would understand my driving habits would cause the oil burning. ive never seen smoke out of my exhaust before, this is the first time. when i passed, i did go up to 8k, shift, and a cloud of smoke came out. thats not normal for the s2000.

type oil consumption in the search and see how many many people add a quart every 3-5000 miles. It's not that uncommon.
