Default Burning a lot of oil.

Second time this has happened, heard a knocking/rattling, checked the oil, barely had 1L in it, filled it up about 1500 miles later its the same way, It does NOT leak any oil whatsoever, I'm thinking that the rings are probably fried, I cleaned my pvc out, am going to see how it does now, but this worries me.

Get a leak down test, and good luck.

Why are you waiting until you hearing a knocking/rattling to top off your oil? At that point damage is already being done to your motor. Excessive oil consumption is quite common on AP1s. Some people have managed to reduce the oil consumption by swapping for an AP2 valve cover and PCV valve and/or by changing the type of oil that they are using. Just check your oil more often and top it off as needed and you'll be fine.

i would start getting into the habit of checking your oil once a week...it can save your engine...but like stated before, get a compression test and leak down test done and see exactly where your engine stands

hi,

last year, my ap1 burned up to 1 liter / 1000km when i drove sportive.
i've always burned more than half an liter, that was the minimum.

this year, i changed my oil.
both oils 5w40 and actually the same properties.
they are the same oils, only other names..

and now, my ap1 burns less oil than last year,
0,2l / 500km, its very strange,
but i only wanted to show you, that its often an issue of the oil.

question: how can i clean the pcv?
