Default Burning 2.5 quarts of Mobil 1 in ~4000 miles?

How excessive is that oil consumption? I know people often burn Mobil 1, but I'm not sure how much is normal. 2003 with only 50,000 miles. I'll definitely be switching oil next change, but just have a bad feeling that something else might be going on. Any thoughts?

That seems perfectly reasonable to me, most Honda engines are expected to burn "a quart every thousand". As long as you're not leaving it 2.5 quarts below full of course haha.

Mobil 1 is notorious for burning excessive oil in these motors

It isn't considered an issue until you exceed 1.5 quarts per 1000 miles. Some oils will burn less than others if you don't mind changing, but your levels are not excessive.

sounds pretty excessive to me, what weight are you using?
what kind of driving are you doing?
do you have a catch can?
I'd do a leak down test and send off an oil sample to blackstone labs
how are your spark plug seals?

any weird oil residues in the engine bay?

if your engine bay is kind of oily dirty, i'd consider steam cleaning the engine bay and see if you can track down where the oil is leaking out from

My stock 09 with 47K will not burn a drop of Mobil1 0W-30. I really mean not a drop. I change the oil every 3000 miles and the oil does not change one little "x". No track but spirited driving when I can; I live in a rural area.

AP1s and AP2s are so different when it comes to burning oil. It doesn't help to compare between the two.

I use Mobil in my 03, with 60k on the clock, and don't burn 1/2 a quart in 3000 miles.

My oil consumption dropped instantly after switching away from M1. you're "burning" 1qt every 1600miles, which is fine. I wouldn't worry, but I WOULD switch to a different oil. Pennzoil platinum/ultra is a good alternative.
