Default Buring Smell

I have this really bad burning smell coming from my driverside rear wheel and not sure what it is..

I broke it down to two possibilities.

Brakes? maybe they are bad?

or

I got my tires changed today and noticed that same wheel, the springs are sitting kind of off. I did change the springs to eibach.. maybe that is the problem?

have any of you had experience with this? thanks for th help

I'd definitely check your brakes first. Have you ever smelled burning brakes before? its a very distinctive smell. Just check the pad thickness and compare it to the other side.

Its a 06. Yeah I think it might be the brakes. I have not smelled bad ones before but it smells like burned plastic...

As far as burning plastic smells, I've seen a plastic bag get wrapped around a brake rotor and melt before.

If it smells near the rear wheel it is likely a plastic bag on the muffler.

I agree with the other posts that the burning plastic smell is usually from plastic getting caught underneath the car, stuck to the Y-connection leading to the dual exhaust outlets; but if you've checked underneath the car; I suggest that you jack the car up, pull the wheel of and check for any visible sign of the culprit.

Could it be my shock or spring not seated correctly?

Doubt it, check and make sure the caliper is not sticking.
