Default Bumper Rubbing

I am having a problem with my rear bumper rubbing since fitting new wheels. I had a set of OEM 17" wheels on the car and have now fitted a set of Work XD9's that are 18x9 et35 with 255/35/18 tires on the rear and 18x8 et38 with 235/40/18 tires on the front.

Since fitting the new wheels although I have put tires on the rear to closely match the rolling radius of the OEM 17's I get bumper rub. I have done the bumper tab relocation and I don't think the rubbing is coming from this but coming from the screw point at the 9/3 o'clock position as pictured below:

The car is lowered 40mm on coilovers and I have them set to 2/3rds of the way towards the stiffest setting. I never got this problem with the OEM wheels so I'm wondering if its because of the extra width and lower offset?

I've already taken the screw out and replaced it with a zip tie but if I hit a big bump it breaks the zip tie through so its clearly still rubbing. If I cut more of the bumper there is a metal braket behind this point and also no way of securing the bottom section of the bumper.

Any ideas would be great.

I'm not a wheel expert, but from what little I've picked up at these forums, you'd need offsets about twice that amount to avoid rubbing issues.

you need to roll your fenders and do the rear bumper tab relocation. You will also need to trim the rear bumper, many people have done this, try searching for the DIY.

Thanks Carbon Blue

I've already rolled them and have cut the bumper and done the tab relocation but it still rubbed. However, after having the car re-painted and the fenders rust treated there seems to be no rubbing issues now so maybe they did something else as the attention to detail my body shop has given is amazing.

I'll post here again if I still get the issue.

Thanks

Even if you get the same radius numbers, 16, 17, 18's will have different real world radius since smaller side wall will flex less once installed and put on the car. So having 255/35/18 is taller than the stock wheel size. THAT's why you are rubbing that bolt there.
