I got my car back on 8/19/02. I also had the car inspected and the spark plug "product update" performed.
The work order said that there was a hole blown in the side of the differential assembly.
Everything seems to be fine, but I hear a slight clicking from the axles every now and then. I'll keep my ears on alert.
Seems like a good time to purchase the extended warranty (7 yr/100,00 miles)!

Looks like I'm the only one that Honda doesn't want to help out.
Even though it clearly wasn't my fault.

well, i thought it may have been my bald/cupping/unevenly worn tires on my Motegi rims making that whurring noise, but after replacing them with the stock wheels again, it was still there, and the tech who went for a ride with me said its definitely something in the drivetrain....dropping the car off monday to get looked at, and they said they wanted to have it fixed by the end of the week! Yea right......Well, heres another diff for the record.....most likely.....or maybe a tranny.....or both!

about $3300.00....not cheap by any means! (this was from my dealer here in WI, i dont know the break down for that though...)
if you go to this site and price it out it comes to.....$4446.97 including all misc parts such as spacers, bolts, gaskets etc....
Diff. Major Parts...
Case Assy. = $137.31
Carrier Assy. R&R Diff. = $2332.28
Gear Set, Final = $453.31
Shim Set (27 pieces) = $130.49
Diff Assembly = $668.36
Carrier Assy, Diff = $263.53
TOTAL MAJOR PARTS = $3985.28
REMAINIG MISC PARTS = $461.69
GRNAD TOTAL (COST) = $4446.97
Keep in mind, their site has 2 sets of prices....list, and their cost....the prices i quoted are their cost....which is cheaper.
List cost would be...
TOTAL MAJOR PARTS = $5313.77
REMAINING MISC PARTS = $634.42
GRAND TOTAL (LIST) = $5948.19
