Breaking in a Used Engine

quick question to billman just about oil level and cylinder 3 ..sorry off topic..could a scored #3 cylinder due to low oil be caused by over time starting your car on an incline or decline ??

like if you park on a hill and have to start it every day parked like that ? only ask because i noticed the other day my oil read low when i was parked on an incline but on level road it was fine ?

normal hills shouldn't uncover the oil pick up in the pan, so you should be safe as long as your car is near the full mark on level ground. If you are more than 1-2 quarts low on level ground and you park on a hill you could exacerbate the situation, so check your oil levels frequently and keep it near full as much as possible. The oil reading you get while on an incline is useless for the most part.

Thank you...i ended up putting in an extra quart to be safe but was curious..to the op i would have the dealer do an oil change then to be safe do one on your own a week later,check for any sediment
