Default Breaking in Rotors

I just received my set of slotted fronts from powerslot and I have an aggressive driving meet tomorrow (AEX). Normally I would follow the included instructions, which call for 200-500 miles of break-in. I'd really like to have these rotors on for tomorrow, but not if it means shortening the life of my rotors (as the instructions warn). Just how serious are these instructions and are there any shortcuts? A mechanic said all the break-in they need are a few hard stops. I'm a little skeptical...

I think you just need to get them heat cycled a few times without tremendously heating them. I am skeptical as to these instructions. If you drive 500 miles on the highway you might touch your brakes twice. Drive around town for a half hour and you would hit your brakes 20 times. I think perhaps you just need to heat cycle them. I never "Broke" in my rotors and have had no problems with 50k+ on any car, however I would not do high speed dead stops with fresh rotors...

not really needed to break in the rotor, it's more for the pad to seat right than rotor.

if you are putting in a new pad with the rotor, read the instruction. some mfg recommend a slow/mellow break in but some mfg recommend an aggressive method(like 60-0 mph, without locking up, for number of time)
