Okay. Looks like I get to get dirty tomorrow.

I've been meaning to respray the undercoating in the rear wheel wells anyway. This looks like a good time to do it. If the problem appears again I guess I'll rebuild the calipers. (order the kits from handa?).

Thanks to everyone for the help.

And completely OT: differences between 00-01 and 02-03 rear wheels? mix and match?
I got my rebuild kits from HTG- very inexpensive, but a pain-the-butt the first time(my only time). You'll need the use of your compressor.

Only difference I know of is the very slightly goldish tint to the clearcoat on the '02-'03's.

It's nice to have 'net at home again.

Slight color difference. No functionality difference.

i had one of those pins stuck before. it was a bitch to get out...

another thing to consider (happend to me).. once when i installed some brake pads (front only), and i guess i had touched the rotor with my hands or got some greese on there and forgot to use some spot cleaner so when i went to go driving around, the car pulled to one side when braking, and the that wheel only got EXTREMELY hot... so i took the front tires off, cleaned the rotor, and put the old pads back on, problem fixed..

sorry if this doesnt make since... its late and im tired lol.

Don't discount the "bad brake line" comment too. It happens all the time. The insides collapse, the forward pressure from the pedal's enough to push fluid through but, when you release, enough pressure remains to keep the caliper applied.

I've never had a slidy pin freeze though I do re-grease them every time I take the brakes apart.

So I drove the car a little bit today without issue until I ran it out a little bit on the home stretch. Got it up to speed and also used the brakes heavily, heating them up well. After that hot braking, I noticed the vibration return. Luckily I was a mile or so from home. The right rear was noticably hotter than the rest of the corners.

Pulled it all apart, checked the slider pins - they seem to have no stickyness to them whatsoever.

I hope the dealer has rebuilt calipers in stock tomorrow... Either that or I may try Olympic (local GOOD auto parts warehouses). I don't want to waste a day rebuilding if I can just replace them. I know it's going to take a lot just to do that. I think I've got an unopened can of SuperBlue or whatever lying around... Now I just wish I had a floor jack My brother took the other one.

I guess I can take the time to finally use that G2 caliper paint I picked up a year ago

Some pics:

Odd - I noticed a metal "splatter" on the inside of the wheel. Doesn't show up well on the photo, but it wipes right off... Maybe the coating from the rotors. It acts and looks like solder splatter.

Those pads only have 15k on them?

They look like a set of race pads after 2-3 track days.

Yeah, the coloring makes them look burned up. Wouldn't shock me to find that you replace the caliper and it still sticks though. Hopefully not. When's the last time you replaced all the brake fluid? Supposed to be every 3 years max. I usually do mine before every track day.

That spatter might be parts of the brake pad. Sounds like you're overheating the crap out of the rotor and pads.

I told you it was hot

They look a lot more worn than they actually are due to the angle and lighting. The coloring and lightness around the edges is no doubt due to the overheating.

It has been a while since I changed the fluid and I do plan on flushing the system.

Thanks again.
