yeah you dont need to put the screws back one once you get them off
they only hold the rotor in place when the wheel is off the car, and even then the caliper holds it in place anyway

Also spray some liquid wrench on there to help the old screw let go easier.
Since this a seldom used tool (impact driver) I just picked up a cheap one from Home Depot. Works great and you can always return it if it has any "problems".

Those penetrant sprays help ALOT for those damn screws.

Screws are cheap. If you are going to use one, use one that is not damaged.
