Brake question...
Hey guys, quick question for y'all.
I am going to store my car for the winter, and since it is going to be sitting in the garage for so long I decided to take off the calipers and rotors to paint them. I have replaced rotors and brake pads on other cars before, but I have never disconnected the brake line from the calipers. Can I somehow use a clip of sorts to keep the brake fluid from dripping out or will I have to drain the brake fluid
Any help you guys can give me would be great!
Thanks

You can use a rubber vacuum cap on the end of the brake line. Don't let the fluid in the master cylinder get low. You can either seal the reservoir cap with some plastic wrap or clamp the brake line to help keep the fluid from running out while you put on the cap. Then before you reinstall the caliper you'll want to prime it with brake fluid to make it easier to bleed. Then after you reconnect the brake line you can bleed the system like you normally would. Just make absolutely sure you get all the air out. There's a FAQ for this on this site.
If there's anything else specific to the s2000 that I'm forgetting I'm sure someone will correct me. It may also be possible to paint the calipers while still attached to the brake line if you mask everything off. Good luck.
PS: If you can I would really look into trying to paint them while they are still on the car. Especially since you may find that you will need to repaint them often. It is difficult to keep painted calipers looking good. Heat and brake fluid can hurt most paints, even high temperature paint.
