Boy, I screwed up (oil change interval)
Apologies if this does not belong in UTH, but it IS oil-related and the results would be of interest to those interested in extended intervals and oil analysis.
After a busy year, I realized when my Maint Req'd light came on, that it was time again for an oil change. I checked the odometer (37,000 miles), my stock of Mobil-1 in the garage and came to this shocking conclusion: I completely forgot the last oil change interval. A quick check of my records:
The oil in the car has been in there for 11 months and approx 7,200 miles.
The oil I am not so concerned about: it's quality oil and this car drinks oil like nobody's business - it's gone through an entire case of Mobil-1 since the last change - yes 6 quarts of oil + whatever dregs were left from the last case and oil change - so make that about 7 1/2 quarts. So yes, the car changed its own oil. So while the oil may be filthy, there's plenty of fresh oil circulating along with the crud. My concern is the filter and how well it's getting rid of said crud.
Anyhow, let this be a reminder to keep up with the oil change intervals.
I'm pulling a sample for Blackstone Labs - they should have fun with it - and we can all marvel on the wonderful performance of Mobil-1 or gasp at how bad a condition it (and possibly my engine) is in. I'll post the report up here when it comes back in the mail.

IMO mobil 1 oil is a good enough oil to where it doesnt really matter that much if you don't change it for 7K miles. afterall where the only guys that change oil every 3K miles.

oil life depends on the car too, for my supra it was running pig rich before tuning, i had to change my oil every 2500-3000 miles, the oil was being mixed with a little bit of gas, which is really no good. Well generally turbo cars you have to change the oil more often. The s2k the oil seems to last a lot longer than the supra.

The car has always had this oil consumption with Mobil-1.
Dino oil (for the first 9K miles) was less than a quart every 3,500 miles.
AP1's tend to be a bit thirsty in regards to oil. Mine tends to be a bit thirsty.
