Is this a good intake kit? I think it comes with a K&N air filters. i heard that K&N air filters makes the oil get dirtier faster? is this true? i am truely a rookie mechanic and do not know. Any comments and facts will be greatly appreciated.
what are some inexepensive ways of adding a litty pony here and there.
What about installing Mugen ground wires or performance modules? anybody heard of the Intimadator II?

Da Bomz aint too popular round these parts. Can't go wrong with AEM CAI. Makes the oil dirtier faster? Haven't heard that, so must not be to much a concern (sounds fishy). Just change your oil when your supposed to, also clean and oil your filter when needed. You'll be good to go. Mugen ground wires? Not to sure on the gains if any at all. They are supposed to help detonation (Plugs) and (or) can take away engine static relayed through the stereo. Isn't Intimidator some kinda NASCAR thing. Whatever it is you don't need it.

I recently installed a BOMZ CAI and have been happy with the resultant sound. No appreciable power gain.
I have not seen any other CAI's so have nothing to compare with. The BOMZ seems to be a knockoff of the more expensive CAIs at about 1/4 the cost.

one thing that you need to REALLY consider, when buying a cheaper CAI, is filter qaulity. I would suggest (1) replacing it paper filter (2) shortening your interval between oil changes.

Hydro lock is when you are going through water so deep that is up to your freakin' doors and the intake sucks in water. Unless your driving through river beds and drainage ditches a CAI is fine(I had one with no worries). About the power... max power for the expensive a$$ Comptech is between a 2-3 whp gain at 8,800. I've seen dyno sheets posted where there is a gain of 10-15 mid range and 1-2 at the top of RPM range for a CAI. All for way less cash. And if you think your gonna drive your car into a river or an ocean then get a bypass valve ($35)... still way less than Comptech. Not that I'm knocking Comptech... I've got there SC.
