Again, where is the air intake located on your CAI? There have been some so-called CAIs that draw air from a hot part of the engine bay and can heat soak, even when its cool outside.

its an aem intake. its bolted onto the side of the radiator with the filter pointing upwards placed by the right side of the radiator. the filter is positioned in FRONT of the radiator.

If the filter (and hence the air intake point) is truly in front of the radiator so it doesn't get any of the radiator's "hot air blast" to the rear, I must confess that I don't have a clue as to what your problem might be.
Sorry,
Richard

can it be that one of the hoses are too close to each other or perhaps the intake is loose? im guessing in that case the check engine light must have turned on. i still think im getting used to the "no torque" in the low rpms because it runs great on 6th on the fwy.

Well, on second thought perhaps I DO have a thought. Even though the filter may be in a cool place, if you have any hoses and other bits bolted to or behind the radiator in the "hot air flow" you could be getting hot air to the throttle body, even though the intake air is cool.
For that reason, my set up uses a gutted and insulated stock box with a snorkel and a "ram air" slide in front of the radiator. I also insulated the stock pipe from filter to throttle body to prevent this kind of thing.
Your problem does sound like heat soak, but the question is "where is the heat entering the induction air?"
Thanks,
Richard

maybe there is a leak on one of the clamps, but that would cause my cel to come on. doesn't make sense. i'll just drive it around and see how it is... it could be because the connecting part of the intake is right behind the radiator. but we'll have to double check that.
