Thumbs down Body work?

Just got off the phone with the claims adjuster (they are such honest, upfront, forthright folks, don't ya think ) and I am draggin info out of him.

From what I have gathered talking to several different people, the car has a unibody (which is not a unibody, but actually a front part and a back part) and it also has lower rails (the frame sort of as I understand)

Anyway, the rear body panel (part of the "unibody") had to be replaced. This mean drilling out spot welds and replacing and welding back . ALSO...the lower rails were slighly askew, not kinked, but again doesn't sound good to me. Had to put on body thingy and align back up with sonar (spelling?).

Anyway, Car is ready to pick up tomorrow or Monday (which is a week early).

I am so suspicious.... I trust no one! Of course I am not signing anything or anything like that when I pick it up. I am still working on the diminished value claim with them etc.

So, what are your thoughts?

Make sure the rear wheel wells are sealed properly. Otherwise the wheels will spray water into the trunk.

The question is: Do any of you think the unibody work or "frame" work will cause me problems. Does it sound like just a small amount of work that should be no big deal or is ANY frame or unibody work going to cause me any problems. Just generally, of course. I know none have magic crystals or anything.

Everytime someone says "frame" or "unibody" repair.....it is OH MY GOD! Trouble is a brewing. Just wonder if trouble is a brewin'?

I'm driving around on racetracks with a car that, trust me, had a LOT more damage than yours.

Everything is repairable. It just depends on how good the repairs are and how much they cost.

The car has 2 removable subframes that are bolted to the body of the car. The front and rear suspension are attached to these subrames.

The estimate doesn't say anything about repairing a subframe, or having the car put of a frame rack to be checked for straightness/pulled. "Rear body panel" could be anything. Id talk to your body shop and have them show you exactly what was done.
