I think he should keep the matter involving how he bent the valve private as we have seen others explain their problem on this board while the Honda dealerships have been watching.

#1. Use punctuation.

#2. I know of much smaller issues that were denied by AHM (not your local dealership). I'm sorry buddy, but you don't actually have any experience with what this guy is going through. Any warranty work that costs more than $1,500, or somewhere in there, has to be approved by AHM personel. They actually send someone out to check out the car. It's not a matter of convincing your local dealership that you are not going away. On the flip side, if you did want to get a lawyer involved, take it straight to AHM as your dealership's hands are tied at this point.

Ok, Now you guys got me worried. I let my roommate drive my car one day for a test drive. He drives pretty hard and has had a few porsches.

So we are on the highway. Driving it between 60-85 mph. THen he downshifts. Not sure from where. I think from 4th to 3rd at fairly high revs. The Tires squeeled for some reason, I really don't know why cause we were going like 6o-70mph.

The car runs great still. Just wondering if he might have f*** up my motor. Would I know immediately if something was wrong???

Pretty much...within a mile or so the check engine light would come on and the car would stop running.

Yeah, I'd agree. Also, 3rd gear's good for 90mph so an over-rev shouldn't have occurred.

I wonder if the 6 speed is easier to over rev on. I personally know a guy that destroyed an integra gsr and a prelude by doing this, both while downshiftin aggressively trying to race. Both claims were rejected by honda and he now drives an auto But here is what I don't understand, I thought syncros would keep your car from going into a gear that it couldn't match revs to. In my first car (a 5 speed escort GT) you could literally hear the sycros spin up and it was very difficult to put the car in 1st geear, for instance at 60mph. Maybe I just need a lesson on how syncros work but it seems to me that you shouldn't be able to put your car in gear if it can't. Here is an idea, how about a over-rev proof tranni that closes the gates as it becomes unfeasible to enter a certain gear. For instance, at 90mph, 1st gear is disabled. Do any manufacturers employ anything like this?
