Blown Head Gasket??
2004 AP2 198,000+ miles
Start my 2004 AP2 up yesterday at work to head to lunch and it immediately starts idling rough. Check engine light comes on within seconds and starts flashing.
My mind is racing trying to figure out what the deal is and before I know it, the idle levels out and the check engine light turns off. I pull out of the parking garage and at the first stop sign I notice some white smoke coming from my exhaust (didn't smell sweet, so i'm thinking just oil burning). I pull over immediately and pop the hood. Nothing out of the ordinary and no smoke or fluid in the engine bay. The white smoke has dissipated at this point as well and is no longer coming out of the exhaust.
Now I'm considering if I can make it to the Honda service center just 5 minutes away. I take the gamble and make it to the service center without any issues and you'd have thought nothing even happened.
Kept my eyes on the temperature like a hawk and not a single blip past the 8 blocks that are normally lit. I let it idle at the service center for a good couple of minutes without any symptoms at all. Left it overnight and they were able to start diagnosing today telling me that all codes (4 different codes showed up) and signs were pointing toward head gasket failure. Its been more than 10 years since I had a head gasket issue in another vehicle and the effects of that were immediate and obvious.
Does this sound right? After thinking about it all day today, I'm wondering if the gasket was compromised and then when it cooled down it started to leak. Once it heated back up, it partially resealed allowing me to drive normally for a short bit.
I'm just confused that all symptoms vanished in under 2 minutes.
thoughts???

Did they pressure test the cooling system?

Sniff test with correct equipment in the coolant, from cold start to operating temp.should show a HG failure.
