but i dunno if you pay attention or not , he didnt charge for installation , if you just want to change the head gasket , they usually charge $800 at least. including labor
I'm confused as well. Looks like he's charging:
$935 for labor to remove cylinder head and replace the gasket.
&
$230 for the actual headgasket.

i already gave you an estimate BEFORE you got this estimate...of how much it should cost, and i even broke it down for you.
as far as paying attention to the estimate that you got, he is overcharging you for labor, yes, i did pay attention to that. but it is even WORSE to overcharge you for parts - that already indicates that he is not someone good to do business with.

i mean , he needs to do a lot of work to do besides this , he didnt charge all off them , and i think that 230 including installation
i know exactly how much work is involved (typically) for removing a head, fixing the head, and reassembling the head.
i already broke it down to you what is involved and how much it should cost.
advice is advice...this is too much to pay for the work being performed and the parts being purchased.
like i said, i paid $65 for my headgasket...$230 you can buy 3 headgaskets and a milk shake.

why dont you tell him that you will supply him with the gasket and the valves. the labor rate is high but understandable. it looks like he is charging you book time. but talk to him about the parts atleast!!
or wait! maybe the $230 is a gasket head set? includes in. ex. and head gaskets, plus all the seals and gromets?
here it is:
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/j...gry5=GASKET+KIT
still priced 30 bucks over retail.
