Default Blew My Differential =[ What should I do?

My differential now makes this sort of growl when I drive. More if you drive steady on a speed. I got it checked from my mechanic and he told me that it was definitely blown. He gave me the choice of either; 1)Buy the parts and having it re build. He couldnt tell without opening the diff to know which parts need replacement. 2)Buy a used diff and install it. As of right now i've talked to a guy that has a diff from a '03 with 58k miles on it. He's giving me the chance of having it installed at least to see if it's actually good. He's willing to let it go for $300. I'm planning on keeping my old differential and rebuilding it later on with a different gear ratio.

mfactory/quaife diff or a used oem and trade in the housing for a comptech. Buy some rx8 4.44 gears

Didn't the AP1 have a weaker diff? What year is your ride?

Yeah I thought so, but that's not to say the AP1 diff is weak. You just don't want to go drag racing with it. I'd buy the used differential you found. Seems like a solid deal.
