I towed it, and really bad news...The engine is gone. They said all the bearings where paper thin, they said cause was lack of lubrication which i dont understand because i had plenty of oil in there. I was quoted for parts alone it is 8,000 not even including labor. Now i dont have that sort of money and no warranty anymore so i am screwed. Basically its gonna sit on my parking lot till i can afford a new engine. Anyone want a broken S2000, lol (all i can do now is laugh).

sorry to hear that bushido, dont go to honda to get a new motor, you can get one from places that sell motors for half that, they will have like 40k miles on them. you can also get a totalled s motor from a junkyard for half of that

Yeah the really crappy part is i am still paying $417 a month for it......

First of all, $8000 should be more than enough to replace the engine with a new one (including labor!). $5000 will probably be more than enough to replace it with a used one from a junked car. Dealers don't do this kind of stuff very efficiently. Look around for a reputable independent shop. You've got plenty of time to go price shopping.

As for the oil, you may have had oil in the pan but apparently somewhere in the system it stopped getting to the engine. That's why the VTEC failed (no oil pressure). It's possible that if you had shut it down right then and had it towed to a shop the engine might have been saved, but it's also possible it was already toast before you ever got the CEL.

Wonder if the oil pump blew out? There was another member here who's oil pump quit and it took the whole motor with it.

You ought to be able to find a shortblock for $2200 or so. Then it's a matter of finding someone to install it. There's some used motors for sale in the for sale section. One's $1950 for a complete motor (basically drop it in).

It's possible that you read it wrong. Checking the oil on this car isn't rocket science but many have done it wrong. A little oil splashed up onto the dipstick can give some people the impression that there is adequate oil. The only other possibility is that your oil pump wasn't working 100% or some of the oil passages were blocked. Were you leaving your oil changes to extremely long and non-recommended intervals?
Also, some people don't like to rev this engine because it "sounds scary and uncomfortable". They then drive the car to a "hair's width" from lugging. This is particularly hard on bearings.
