Get it checked out by someone other than Honda. If you use the dealership, you'll risk them using your admission of mis-shift as a cause to deny future warranty claims.

I think a good test drive would be best. Start it and let it warm up so you can hear it at idle. Take it nice and easy and listen to it. I am not saying if you do not hear anything there is nothing wrong. Maybe a simple compression test will help you out if the car seems to be performing out side of it's norm.

You should really take some time and get used to the gear box the ratios are very close, closer than most sports cars. When I got my S I kept shifting into 5th instead of third gear and I have owned nothing but manual transmission cars in my 22 years of driving. Get used to it before driving it like you stole it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I don't frequently rev match in any car to be honest, but when I have it's been a car that I knew extremely well, and I took careful precaution...should anything go wrong. I personally would get it fixed NOW.

you weren't bouncing off any limiter. The fuel cut cannot stop a mechanical overrev as the engine is being driven by the tranny. good luck.. not a great start to your ownership

Anyone know if an overrev stays in the ECU memory? If not you could erase the code and plead ignorance when it goes pop
On that note, if you did genuinely stress it out, you may not see the full implications for a number of miles yet. You may have seriously stressed or cracked something internal, that is waiting to let go....
