I've clutchless shifted on multiple occasions. To me it really isn't that hard. But then again, I have driven numerous vehicles without synchros that are a lot less forgiving than the S2000 transmission. I did it for the simple fact that I knew my clutch was going out and wanted some extra time to save up for a new clutch. No harm done and with ~100K miles on my transmission it shifts and drives perfectly. No grinds, shifter is smooth as butter, and no howling or whining.

Ok may be a dumb question here, but what's the feeling on the shifter when I'm clutched in and pushing toward a gear. Sometimes it offers up slight resistance, then slides into place, all using the same force. Is that synchro related or something else altogether?

That's the synchro working. During that time of resistance it's bring things up or down to speed.

Got it. I have noticed this mostly when pushing into first from a dead stop. So, does the wear come from jamming into gear before things get set? Trying to visualize the process, and of course keep from doing anything wrong.

Wait, why is this bad? Going 55mph in 6th gear -> to neutral coasting -> and back into 6th gear? Whether you rev match or not.
I did this few times and have before on my older cars, I didn't know it was bad??

I think he's trying to say if you go from 800 rpm idle into 6th while the car is going 55 mph, it's bad for the synchos because it has to bring everything up to speed.

I don't think anyone is saying that rev matching to do this is bad.

Okay that's what I thought but it confused me for a second.
