Best way to remove an engine??
I am installing a new built motor in my S and I need to remove the current one
I have tried searching and found nothing. I have everything disconnected and am wondering if its easier to lift the motor out of the car still attached to the tranny
or unbolt the motor from the tranny then lift it
or drop the motor from the bottom.
If there are any techs or people out there that have swapped motors please chime in .....since my car is on the lift in my garage and I am trying to determine the best way to get the motor out.
Thanks.

Cherry picker, tranny on or off. If you're using your own original tranny, just go ahead and drop it beforehand. You can decide if you want to install the new motor with it on or off later.

You won't get the engine out through the top with the trans still attached. I have tried, It's not going to happen. If you are doing this on jackstands, you must remove the trans 1st, then pull the engine out from the top. If you have a lift, you can remove engine and trans assembled from the bottom. To remove from the bottom, you will have to remove the engine and trans still attached to the front subframe and pick the car up over everthing.
