Stick to what Honda reccomends in this case.
Who said anything about lubricating better? Smoother shifts = better synchro operation. All decent transmission fluids contain additives to give them the right friction profile (it's non-linear) for synchro operation. The Castrol Syntrans is particularly good - much better than the Honda MTF in my experience. I completely fail to see how anything that makes the gearbox operate with less effort and more smoothly can be bad for it. The synthetic base oils will also provide better shear resistance and film strength and thus protection for the actual meshing gears. The viscosity is correct, the chemistry is correct, it gives smooth operation; why the hell not use it? My Subaru owners manual says I can only use Subaru coolant for heaven's sake. I don't believe that either.

In the shop where I usually go, in their Castrol price list, they have Castrol TAF-X 75W90 synt oil GL4/5 and Castrol Syntrax synt oil GL5, there is'nt a Syntrans 75W85, I think the first should be ok?
(probably european Castrol catalogue is different from the american or the australian)

Naishou the transmission fluid expert, I highly support your comments. Besides, gotta use that stuff to know it's good. No point speaking about it. Anyway, if you guys can't find it over anywhere in the world. It costs USD$12 approximately for 1 litre and it's sold in 6 litre packed boxes. Everytime when you change, you need about 1 and 3/4 litres to fill it up.

That's dissappointing. I put Red Line MTF in my first S and the shifts felt better immediately. Unfortunately, I wrecked it and didn't get and opportunity to discover any long term effects.
