100% Motul fan here. 137k kms and going strong. 300v 5w-30 might do the trick and has given excellent UOAs from many S owners including myself.

Compared to "No Oil" or "Low Oil", any brand oil would allready be better.
So the Best oil is topped up oil.

I hope it makes sense

Good quality synthetic oils will always outperform standard motor oils but in some cases as in Mobil 1 your engine will burn more oil, especially if you didn't start out with Mobil 1 when the car was new. An alternative is to use a paraffinic base oil as opposed to a naphthenic base oil. Paraffinic base oils are more stable at high temperatures and don't break down as fast. Always use the grade recommended for your car. All Pennsylvania Grade motor oils are paraffinic based.

I used to use Mobile 1,now I like using redline 5w30. 5000 miles max.

When I was using mobil 1, i noticed a slightly higher amount of debri on my magnetic drain plug. After two oil changes of redline, went back to mobile 1 to see if I can really feel anything. I did notice a slightly higher fuel consumption with mobile 1. Very slight.

Why? The Topic Starter asks for what kind of "MOTOR" oil to use. (Not like it's never been asked a million times before already. And not like it really makes any bit of difference unless you're using Uncle Cleatis's used recycled fry oil.) Then we get responses telling about all the different fluids people use in their trannies, rear diffs, brake and clutch systems, cooling system. We need to keep this thread open till everybody gets a chance say what kind of window washer fluid they use or what kind of A/C recharge gas they use or what kind of grease they use for the CVs or what kind of lubrication they use when they give themselves an enema. We must have every opportunity to answer the most inane question ever asked and to answer way more than what was asked. That's only fair.

IF YOU TRUSTED THE MAINTAINANCE that your dad used in maintaining his cars as you grew up,you can do the same thing. Use the same oil he used and get the same results. Now you can count yourself as having several years of experience with his ( and now yours) oil.
