I have one too. It works, but it's not real-time - you need to pull it and download to a computer to get the results. It will also clear check-engine lights.
What I use mine for is a "black box" to record the vehicle's usage. I do this to keep a record of my driving style (for warranty purposes) and in case of a ticket or accident as a record of the vehicle's speed at the time of the incident.
I also like to pull the data off of it after getting the car back from service to see if the car was joyridden while it was out of my hands.
There's also a fleet model that has an alarm that goes off when the vehicle is abused (too high a speed or hard driving).

Also, a few years ago I remember coming across a product that plugged into the OBD diagnostic port and would display any OBD-monitored engine parameter in real time. It was fairly expensive (~$300 if memory serves), but seemed beneficial to have for certain circumstances. Unfortunately the manufacturer and product name have completely escaped me since then, and my many attempts via Google have been fruitless. They had various models for specific car makes/models. To me that didn't make much sense, since OBD is a standard, but I suppose somewhere there's a reason I don't understand.
Has anyone come across this mystery product?

Carchip E/X
The other item you mention might be for hooking up a Palm Pilot to the OBD port. It ran software to show performance charts.
There's this:
Nology PDS Dyno
and finally this:
Teen driver black box

Thanks for the links, all good products (luckily I don't have a teen driver to worry about).

begging the question, why the heck do you want to "change" the idle speed anyways? there's no point.

Currently my engine's idle speed is about 900k, but it's not consistent... sometimes higher or lower. In my experience, raising the idle speed to about 1100 will give me much faster throttle response and the idle will stay consistent... not waiver so much.
