sorry this might be a little off topic, but I recently picked up a used berk 70mm HFC and as far as the exterior appearance the cat looked good. However, when i put the cat up side down I can hear that there are some play for the core to move around in the pipe. (i.e when holding it vertically, by shaking, I can hear that the core will more up and down not by alot of coz as it is being restricted by the size of the pipe). Is this normal? or I have just purchased a rattling HFC?
any help would be appreciated.

My berk hfc has developed this same rattle. The previous owner bought and installed it last year but i'll probably just switch to a testpipe if and when I decide to pull the trigger on a j's catback.

It's not Berk's fault. It's an aspect of the magnaflow cats they use. It's also pretty common. I had a custom cat made years ago with a spun body and it also developed the rattle. It's not really all that problematic besides the sound. I just ignored it because it was on a race car.

I don't have a rattle, but a weird acceleration sound is coming, like there were a leak, but there isn't one...
It's like a buzzing sound, I don't know how to describe it, but this sound appeared when I installed my HFC.
