Bent valves, need new crankcase (?), etc

Have a similar story (at least as far as valves go)... My 2003 S2K is in the shop (dealership) as I write this -- I purchased it in 2006, certified pre-owned, it now has 94K miles -- I'm told they suspect it has a bad valve, and thats not covered by the warranty -- symptom: running rough (particularly when starting to move from a stop). Diagnostic shows a "misfire" on all cylinders. Initially, the tech thought it was "bad gas," but then determined it wasn't...
6 hours labor at cost of $665 to pull the head off for diagnosis. I am told that to re-valve/re-surface, the total cost (out of pocket -- since they suspect it is the valve) will be $3,794. And to totally replace the head, they quoted $7,395 (ouch)!!!
Since I don't race with my car (I drive it well -- its my baby!!), I'm having a hard time believing I induced the damage... The service rep told me it is likely due to over-rev/mis-shift (neither of which I do)...
NOW I'm concerned that, since I am certain I did not "over-rev" or "mis-shift" (to begin with), what happens if this happens again?? Is there any way to prove that it is NOT over-rev or mis-shift (driver-induced) damage?? I went with the S2000 because I *had* had a high opinion of Honda... Are they REALLY RIPPING ME OFF???
***Does anyone have a reco for a non-Honda shop in the Plano, TX (and/or north Dallas) area that they trust/that knows the inner workings of the S2K? PLEASE ADVISE!!!***
Thanks

^glad to see youre using search, but two year old thread!
It will most likely NOT happen again - the s2k was probably damaged before you even purchased it, if you are sure you did not mechanically over-rev it. A overrev will only occur if you downshift into the wrong gear - no way of doing it by bouncing off the limiter.
Sad that you got stuck with the bill though.
