thanks, my last shop said they could hear that it was coming from the valves. so im going to get it done, ill update this thread in a week when i receive it back!
Woah, hold on... You mean the 1st shop or the 3rd shop?? If it is the 3rd shop you're bringing it to and talking about, then I'd hold off. Because didn't the 3rd shop say Cyl4 was leaking?

Since your 1st test/shop, and then your own self test, resulted in low compression in Cyl3, I'd def not get a complete head rebuild done at shop 3 (low Cyl4).

well the first shop is in San Fransisco, so that's a no.

and the third shop i do trust to do the work, but it is weird that they found a ton of leakdown, but the head is what needs to be fixed either way right?

ill be putting in all new super tech stuff so i doubt ill have issues down the road from the valve train

(After letting out a big *sigh*)... don't get super tech parts. Go OEM. your motor will thank you.

If it was me, and also judging from your first post in that you mention you have zero symptoms, car runs good and zero/low oil burning - I'd just leave it alone. Unless of course, you have money burning a hole in your pocket or if you just want to modify/improve the car.

jkelley's advice sounds the most reasonable and wisest - just enjoy the car. Keep in mind not All cars are going to have perfect compression numbers.

If it (like my car) runs good, sounds good, feels strong, has no symptoms, no check engine light, no misfires, doesn't burn oil excessively (hence, why I haven't even bothered doing a compression re-check follow up yet) ...then be like me and just enjoy it.

If we were all worried about the most perfect and most consistent compression numbers..then we would be pulling our hair non-stop and rebuilding our engines every single year, lol.

Instead, use that $2-3k on a vacation or travel, or maybe a couple nice dinners, or party, etc. This is what the shops do with your money anyways; after fixing something on your car that didn't even need to be repaired.

For real... I wonder where they're gonna go with the extra cash? Aruba, Jamaica? Or, maybe lots of cocaine, ecstasy and hookers. Perhaps lavish dinners at expensive restaurants, fancy watches and suits, etc., etc.

Show me one proven instance where supertech went even half the distance oem parts can. If I built your head with oem parts, I could guarantee it. There would be no doubting involved.

haha, well im going to be tracking this car, so it running correctly and at 100% is important to me. and i decided to go with supertech by talking to Laskey Racing locally here, not by the shops that quoted me to work on my car....

i guess i never though of just driving it an option? i would be concerned with randomly dropping a valve due to their being an issue with the valve train... the money isnt really an issue, i would rather have peace of mind when thrashing it around

See Billman's comment on super tech valves and other parts vs OEM parts for the head. Then thoroughly search. You will not find any cases where they were better than OEM.

OP, listen to Billman on this. OEM is the only way to go.
