Bent Crossmember

The U-channel on mine was folded over from a couple of road rock impacts from what I can tell. Dirt simple replacement with an OEM replacement part. I've seen aftermarket cross bars selling for over $100 with nice red powder coating.

I always thought that the oem piece was weak if hit in certain directions.
I've got a solid silver Comptech replacement bar in mint condition with no dents or marks if you are interested, perfect fitment for the oem bar. I just installed a Beatrush rear brace and it replaces the bar so I am not using it anymore. Hit me up if interested, willing to sell it for cheap.

That bar is almost useless, my buddy removed his and tracked his car. Didn't make a single difference to his lap times. That little flimsy bar ain't doing anything the subframe ain't already doing better.

Ah true indeed.

Apparently it also protects the bottom of the diff.
Don't want to know what the underside Cosmo's car would have looked like without it

I suspect Honda built it weak for a reason, so its 'sacrificial' and will be destroyed before something else can damaged. Replace with one that is too strong, probably doesn't add any meaningful stiffness, but does add potential for damage to more expensive components in the event of bottoming.

Anything goofy about the re-install concerning the critical stress bolts? Just crank them down hard or set the clicker to a specified torque value?

Cosmomiller, I have 33 ft-lbs, on the 10 X 1.25 bolts. And 7.2 ft-lbs, on the 6 x 1.0mm bolts. Honda S2000 Service Manual (2000-2008), page 15-29).
As for boxing, prolly not necessary as this seems to be a side-to-side stiffening brace. Not front to back. Or any torque stiffener function.
