Beginnings of failing TCT? Or serious engine trouble?
Hey guys, have a listen to this video. there is an odd noise that started tonight on rev deceleration. Ive had a bad TCT before but was fixed and sounded nothing like this, however the car had the TCT issue when i purchased the car so it was pretty far gone. Could this be the beginnings of the TCT failing again? Ive put about 40,000 km on the car since I fixed the TCT last so im unsure if it could come back with that amount of mileage.
The car is run at 10psi, no hesitation, smooth idle, no unusual smoke, no coolant in the oil, doesnt consume oil etc. Just this noise that started tonight.
Have a listen and give your input. Thanks in advance guys.

The sound quality is not that great so like stated above its hard to tell.
The only thing that comes to mind from what i could hear is Lost Motion Assembly. I had a B16A2 that sounded similar. I know the engines are nowhere near the same but the vtec systems are still similar, and both still have LMA. I would start there
Science of Speed sells them i believe.

Sounds like the auto tensioner to serp belt or something in that area of the pullies. Hard to say over all that business you got going on. Glad you found it.

So the problem was on the turbo it self. Was an easy fix. One of the brackets that hold the turbine housing to the centre body had a bolt back out subsequently causing the bracket to rattle slightly. It was on the bottom of the turbo and not immediately visible unless you poke around looking for an issue. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.
I torqued everything down prior to installing the kit but seems like the vibrations caused it to loosen anyways.
