Default Bad wheel bearing?

Okay so I noticed my rear right wheel was making a clunking noise at low speeds (drove for 5k miles like that) so I jacked up the car and I could shake the whole wheel and hub.

I took the wheel off and the axle nut was loose I could shimmy it left and right easily. I tightened it down and no longer could shake the wheel.

I now hear a loud noise from the wheel when turning one direction. Turning the other way its quiet. Even slightest angle in the bad direction will cause the noise.

Is this the wheel bearing damaged from loose axle nut for 5k miles? Or is it something else?

95% chance that the bearing and the hub are destroyed if it got to that point.

The 60 degree axle nut torque method I posted is the way to prevent this from ever happening to any S2000.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up.

So I just need to get a used rear passenger spindle then and transfer my rotor and caliper to it?

You can replace the bearing and hub with a new one. Then make sure to tighten your axle nut to 180ft lb + 60 degrees. Search in this forum for axle nut tsb.
