Bad Threads Rear Lower Ball Joint

Eastwood has a "universal thread repair tool" for about $60.

Or make your own and try this: Get a nut with the correct threads. Cut it in half. Place the cut halfs in position on the good threads & clamp them together (there'll be some space due to the saw's kerf). Back the clamped-together nut off and it'll straighten out the damaged threads keeping them aligned with the good threads.
Appreciate it I might look into this, if not for this job, definitely down the road when I'm having thread issues.

Thanks Billman, I'll 100% be doing this next time, sounds like this is the cause for my issues, one of those little mistakes learned from experience I suppose.

Looks to be the lower ball joint from the accord, I think if you search this part number at auto parts stores (napa, advance, etc) you should be able to find it: #K9643 (got from another thread).

A die would work if its really bad.

Or a thread file.

Or.

Grab the non threaded stud with vice grips. Use the nut and an impact to smooth the "booger" on the threads.

Did you change the rear lower ball joint without removing the kuckle? If so, which press did you use? Autozone rental?
