Bad syncros, rebuild or replace?
Pretty sure second and third gear syncros are on the way out in my AP1 transmission. Third gear is getting real bad once everything is warmed up. Will grind going into gear almost everytime on the 2-3 upshift. Downshifting 4-3 is no problem though, goes in just fine. Second gear grinds when trying to shift at or near redline.
Anyways, wondering if it would be best to have the syncros replaced in the current transmission (car has 34K miles), or try to source out a used AP2 trans. Are the syncros that much better in the AP2 transmission? Just trying to figure out which direction to go when we are ready to fix this problem. Thanks everyone.

Synchros are known to be better.
But one thing is 100% sure. I could tell you with my eyes closed if its an ap1 or ap2. For me the feeling of the ap2 is way better plus you get shorter gears.
