Default Bad starter?

Drove in to work this AM with nary a hiccup. Went to start the car when I needed to leave and got nothing. Catastrophic failure of the battery is what I thought, but that seems to not be the issue.

The motor turns slowly and even acted as if it fired once or twice, but just barely. I have attempted to start the car with a 1100 CCA Semi Truck battery (started with a smaller jump from a running vehicle). Jump went from positive terminal direct to the engine block to bypass any bad ground issues with no change.

The large jumper cables are getting hot so I know that it's pulling a lot of power.

I'm getting a tow home, and can do some more diagnostic digging once i'm out of dress slack and have more than a single small wrench and screwdriver to work with. I might have to go get more socket extensions to get at that top starter bolt.

Indicative of a dying starter? I've had them go bad on other vehicles, but never in a partially failed state and I'm worried that I'll get it off and it won't be the problem.

I've noticed several people have issues similar to this. Any update as far as the solution to your problem or what it ended up being exactly?

I hope that's a typo!

Try hitting the starter a few times with something heavy like a breaker bar
