is it bad to mount the spare tire on the rear?
i am contemplating a BBK and am unqilling to forgo having a spare tire. i know that the owner's manual indicates to put the spare on the front and to switch wheels if the rear goes flat so that the spare always goes on the front. with a BBK, i would be unable to use the spare in the front, so i have 2 questions:
1) does the oem spare wheel/tire fit on the back?
2)is it still safe to drive short distances at low speed to a garage / shop in the event of a flat tire with the spare on the rear?
thanks!

i have thought about this too, since i have a BBK. i think having different wheels in the back wouldn't be good for the diff, which is why they only want you to mount the spare in the front. Like i said, i've considered alternatives and for me, i think i might just buy a single wheel that is BBK friendly and keep it at home for a spare. Then have someone bring it to you in the event of a flat. If you are far from home, the other thing you can do is just get roadside assistance like AAA so you can tow your car to a tire shop.
Other than that, i've thought about purchasing a large bolt on spacer to mount with the spare tire on the front, but not sure if the diameter of the spare tire would still clear the BBK and not sure just how big of a spacer would be needed.

I wonder if there is a 17" donut from another car that we could use? (ITR, TL-S, RL, 350z with brembos, etc)

As example. A 245/40/17 Direzza ZII is 845 Revs/mile.

This T125/70/16 is 886 Revs/mile.

That's 4.9% smaller. That puts the same work on the diff as turning in a 100 ft radius circle. You can judge for yourself if doing that at whatever speed you feel is slow enough for whatever distance you feel is short enough is a good or bad idea.

another alternative is to keep a spare tire kit so you can patch the tire instead. But if you have a blow-out i guess you're out of luck. Maybe buying roadside assistance would be best so you can just have it towed..

I didn't realize it either and bought some 25mm spacers thinking it would solve my problem
I think a 17" donut would fit as long as it had the same overall diameter as the stock one?

He knows this. He stated it in his original post. He just wants someone's permission to ignore it and risk damaging his diff.
