Bad Idle/Misfire Symptoms
#22
Maint. done so far:
Pulled coils and plugs. Swapped old plugs w/new OEM NGK platinums. There was a tiny, tiny bit of oil in the #3 cylinder plug chamber that we assumed was just blow by. Old plugs looked decent for having gone thru 60k miles, but swapped em' out anyway. Before I get too far ahead of myself, here are the DCT's and freeze frame data:
P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, and (P1369??)
Freeze Frame:
DTC that caused Freeze Frame: P0301
Throttle Position: 11.7%
Engine RPM: 2343 RPM
Load Value: 74.5%
Vehicle Speed: 0 MPH
Map Sensor: 75KPA
Coolant Temp: 123 F
Intake Air Temp: 104 F
Short Term Fuel Trim 1: -2.2%
Long Term Fuel Trim 1: -4.6%
Short Term Fuel Trim 3: -100.6%
Long Term Fuel Trim 3: -100.6%
Fuel System 1 - Clsd
After swapping the plugs and reinstalling coils, took her out for a spin (knowing it probably wouldn't fix anything..) and now the missing is pretty much constant, but it wouldn't throw the DTC's again. Pulled back up to my friend's house after about a 20 minute drive and she starts idling like crazy so I pop the hood and remove the PVC (it was rattling like crazy) and plug it with my finger. Reach down to Rev motor slightly (bogging) and she just shuts off. I walk around and another CEL had popped. Hook up my OBDII and this time no misfire codes... It was P0108 (MAP sensor circuit HIGH voltage). This also had a freeze frame but the only major difference between the last freeze frame and the one above was the MAP sensor reading was @ 165 KPA on the 2nd freeze frame. Fuel Trim (Short 1) was @ -7.x% on the 2nd as well. All the other readings were pretty much the same. We also found a tear from the Brake Booster Hose that wraps around from the pump to the back side of the intake manifold. I don't believe the tear goes all the way thru, but we could see some Nylon.
Any freeze frame experts chime in, because I have no idea how to interpret that data for troubleshooting purposes.

nobody put in their input on the freeze frame data? changed pvc and hose that has leak. still missing. I'm going to chk voltage at coils next. thinking it could possibly be bad alarm install... bad splice into ignition wire.

I went ahead and took it to my alarm guy to be rewired. They redid everything. Got the S back and have noticed that when the hood is closed, she misfires... If I pop the hood, it will sometimes make her die, or the misfire will just stop completely. As soon as I close the hood and lock it down, misfiring starts again.
Bad engine ground or something being grounded to the frame that isn't supposed to be grounded???
